Being established in 1990, the core activity of the BIOFILTER Environment Co. comprises the collecting and recycling of exhausted frying oils and frying fats. Our initial site was located at Budaörs, where we treated exhausted oil collected in Budapest and the Balaton region through our self-developed technology, before selling it. From 1991, we undertook the disposal of communal garbage, according to the needs of fast-food chains on a mutual basis.
Since 1992, when the gathered amount exceeded the dimensions of the factory at Budaörs, we continued with our activity on the territory of the fat powder plant at Csévharaszt, which has already been operating for 20 years by that time. Our products manufactured there comprise fat powder feed energy-enricher products with the brand names Favorit-40 and Favorit-40/A, that later on turned out to be suitable for production with addition of exhausted fat, providing an excellent opportunity for recycling of this material. Between 1993-97 at Csévharaszt, we restarted the disused snack-manufacturing plant, as especially at the beginning stage the diversification ("standing on more legs") was the governing principle of our entrepreneurial philosophy. Alongside the same perspective, we have been dealt with furniture trading between 1995-1998 and - as a response to customer demand - started with the marketing of the culinary oil formerly called CEREOL, today labelled as Vénusz, a product of Bunge Plc. in catering-sized, 10-20 litre bottles, while by today we are ranked as the third largest distributor thereof.

Also at our site location as Csévharaszt we established a soup manufacturing work in 1996, since it turned out that with the aid of proper techniques the exhausted fat is well suitable for production of detergent base material as well. Due to weakening market demand in 2003, we discontinued the foregoing activity.
In the year 1997 our company acquired the site in Törökbálint which was well-known under the name Dulácska Farm, where we established a further gathering location - suitable for exhausted frying oil and frying fat -, as well as an edible oil store and a logistic base. Owing to the development, Törökbálint has become within one year the centre of nationwide collecting, since in the meantime we managed to implement the nationwide collecting network across 8 regional collectors.
1999 marked the establishment of another new site in Lepsény, with the aim of an improved service of Balaton and its region. This site is dedicated to cleaning and recycling of the collected exhausted frying oil, our company forwards the frying fat to the site at Csévharaszt, as our fat melting equipment required for fat processing operates there. Lepsény provides opportunity for further expansions as well.
Back in 2002, following the introduction of new regulations relating to the culinary-garbage and broken meats arising in the course of culinary activities, as a response to the increasing demand, we obtained the necessary operating licenses for transportation and collection of those culinary-garbage and broken meats. In Budapest as of 1 may 2005, in the country in September 2003 we started out with the collecting and removal of culinary garbage arising from gastronomic activities from our contractual partners.
BIOFILTER Co. completed the implementation of its new integrated operation management system on 30 August 2005, whereto the backing up of an EU submission in extent of 50 % due to winning the competition of GVOP No. 4.1.1. announced by the Ministry of Economy and Information Technology, as well as domestic co-financing delivered substantial aid.
